Navigating life in a broken world is too heavy of a burden for us to shoulder alone. Therefore, there are seasons where it is wise for us to seek help from a godly counselor. Asking for help is humbling, but to turn to one of God's people in a time of need is a beautiful display of faith in Christ.

Pierce County Biblical Counseling (PCBC) is a ministry to help people in need. Christ-centered biblical care is offered to suffering people in a broken world. We seek to understand a person's unique life and life circumstances and guide him or her in discovering what it means to follow Christ personally.

Biblical counselors rest upon the truth that God's Word is the only way to understand God, man, and this world, so the Bible is the foundation and substance of all our counsel. Equipped with God's Word, we seek to holistically consider men and women made in the image of God who are physical and spiritual beings.

Pierce County Biblical Counseling (PCBC) exists to come alongside the church to offer Christ-centered biblically-based care to broken people in a broken world. We believe that God has established his church as his means to proclaim salvation through Jesus Christ and to equip his people to follow Christ. As such, PCBC believes that counseling should partner with the local church to care for people in need.

  Phil Spagnolo: Phil has served in pastoral ministry since 2008 when The Chapel Church called him to be an associate pastor. In addition, Phil has a Master's in Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary (WTS). Confronted with the staggering need of so many to receive theologically sound counsel grounded and applicable to real life problems, Phil began studying with the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation (CCEF) in 2018. In 2021, he earned his Foundations of Biblical Counseling Certificate through CCEF and subsequently began studies at WTS in 2022 which he completed in 2024.

  God has given Phil a deep love and compassion for people, especially those who are suffering. He believes that the gospel of Jesus Christ is sufficient for every need in this life, and the gospel is the means of personal transformation in our everyday lives. During pastoral ministry, Phil has counseled men, women, and youth experiencing a broad spectrum of human suffering, sin, and weakness. He has marked experience helping others walk through anxiety & fear, guilt & shame, and relational conflict. He has a special affinity to serving couples in marriage and relationship counseling. Phil would be humbled if you would allow him to serve you as he has been served by others.

  Phil has been married to his wife Heather for over 20 years, and they have two daughters and a son who are moving into adulthood. Before ministry, Phil earned a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington and worked at Boeing as a research engineer. Phil greatly enjoys the outdoors and the way it shouts of God’s beauty and creativity. He also has a passion for soccer, and you can find him coaching several days a week.

The ministry of Pierce County Biblical Counseling (PCBC) is funded through the generosity of churches, counselees, and other caring individuals. Every donation goes toward providing Christ centered counsel to those in need. We would appreciate your partnership in helping individuals follow Jesus through the unique circumstances of their lives.

If you have received individual, couples, or family conseling, we request a donation of $75 per session.

A counseling session normally lasts 50-55 minutes. You will receive an email request to donate within 48 hours after each session. We accept check, cash, or credit card and are happy to work with churches, individuals, or others who wish to cover the counseling sessions for someone they care for.

Pierce County Biblical Counseling does not accept insurance, but scholarships are available.
